Commercial Projects Manager

As a Commercial Projects Manager in our Grid Services Team, you'll be working to grow ev.energy's Virtual Power Plant, delivering projects that generate revenue and user growth, while creating positive impact with smart electric vehicle charging. This is an exciting role with the ability to grow our partnerships with energy utility clients by building relationships, creating ambitious but achievable work plans, liaising with the Heads of Product & Engineering to ensure timely delivery of projects, analysing charging data for quality assurance and reporting, and identifying/troubleshooting user issues with the Customer Success team.

Proactive account management is core to the role, serving as the day-to-day focal point for commercial and grant projects and working to up-sell products, scale up pilots and ensure continued commercial partnerships. You will also support with the modelling, bidding and delivery of grid services contracts; developing client proposals and grant applications that identify the client’s need/vision and create a compelling, data-driven story about how ev.energy’s products and services are the optimal solution. You will work within our multi-disciplinary commercial team, supporting the Head of Grid Services and delivering world leading electric vehicle projects.

ev.energy is helping decarbonise the transport and energy sectors by intelligently managing the flow of electrons into electric vehicles. We simplify charging for EV drivers, enabling them to charge their EVs with the greenest, cheapest energy available, while helping to balance the electricity grid! We partner with energy suppliers, vehicle OEMs, charge point manufactures and electricity networks such as E.ON Next, Volkswagen, Indra, UK Power Networks) to deliver tariffs and products which integrate smartly with electric vehicles and their chargers.

Our goals
  • Scale our user base to 1 million EV drivers in 3 years
  • Launch in five new markets worldwide, including non-English speaking markets and non-EU timezones
  • Utilise our smart charging platform to build the world's largest Virtual Power Plant of electric vehicles and provide valuable gird services to electricity networks
  • Deliver new charging services (like charging with your home-generated solar power and charging on public networks)
  • Improve our data and analytics offering for our Utility partners so they can better understand how smart charging stabilises their grids and reduces their costs
Key attributes for the role
  • Technical expertise & problem-solving skills, able to think of solutions to difficult technical and/or client problems they might not have encountered before
  • Strong delivery focus, taking on end-to-end ownership of projects and/or products with an eye toward quality and client satisfaction
  • Self-management and drive; willing to proactively take on complex challenges and new tasks even when they fall outside the role description or skillset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to flex between senior clients, app users and the internal team

An awesome applicant will have
  • Experience working in the electricity and/or automotive industries, preferably in smart grid, e-mobility, and/or utilities space
  • Comprehensive understanding of electricity markets and demands side response technologies
  • A track record of delivering complex projects as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent analytical modelling skills and use of analysis tool, e.g. excel and SQL
