Agile Software Project Manager

As an Agile Software Project Manager at Scala, you'll join a close-knit team of engineers & product managers set on building the future of a platform destined to power immersive digital experiences for a long list of Fortune 100 customers.

The ideal candidate will hold a diverse array of Project Management capabilities that reflect the current state of modern Enterprise software development. A solid understanding of both traditional and Agile project management principles, a delivery-focused approach to managing project teams, along with a strong technical capacity and excellent communications skills are all core competencies in this role. Ideal candidates will be familiar managing software initiatives that span proprietary product hardware, across multiple product lines, and Enterprise software applications with flexible deployments (on-premises, cloud, SaaS).

Core Responsibilities:
Actively manage key initiatives across product teams, reporting on scope management, risk, performance, and cost
Manage projects with top-down oversight throughout the entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to standards of scope, quality, budget, and timeline
Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans derived from product requirements and coordination with internal engineering leads to validate requested deliverables, resource requirements, internal goals and customer's identified priorities and milestones
Proactively track scope changes and effectively communicate changes and manage expectations while facilitating the change order process
Monitor project progress and deliver status reports, timelines, issues, risks and action items to stakeholders and team members
Schedule project scoping sessions to understand challenges, technical needs, and business requirements for product features
Run daily Standup, Sprint Planning, Backlog grooming, Retrospective and other Scrum Ceremonies
Work with Product to ensure timely requirements definition, and schedule stakeholder meetings (e.g. Design reviews) as appropriate
Develops and implements changes as necessary to ensure that the project remains within scope, time and cost.
Work with Product and Engineering leadership to translate product roadmaps into defined and scoped project initiatives and map into project management tool
Identify and resolve blockers for cross-functional team
Recommend and maintain team usage of core project management tools (e.g. JIRA)
Coordinate release plans and maintain the release schedule ensuring alignment across the development teams and key stakeholders
Drive a collaborative and agile environment that is geared towards delivery, exhibiting strong time management and communication skills, team building skills, and adaptability to changing environments
Gather and report metrics for defects, issues and other showstoppers during each release, and feature progress reports
Internal evangelist and coach for Agile values and principles
Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills
Knowledge of Agile frameworks and methods (i.e. Feature Driven Development, Scrum, Kanban)
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) models, as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices
Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
Excellent planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
Understanding of system architecture and technical design
Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques

Basic & Preferred Responsibilities:
Bachelor's degree in technical field or required
Minimum of 4 years of project management experience working with product and engineering teams in a technical Software Product organization
Technical competency in managing complex technical features across proprietary hardware, audio/visual display, cross-product technical integrations, communications protocols, system performance, scalability and security
Ability to navigate through ambiguity, set direction, and influence cross-functional teams not under direct line of management
Detail oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills and a passion to produce top quality deliverables from start to finish
Agile certification such as Certified Scrum Master
Demonstrated success defining and launching products in Production environments
Extensive project leadership experience and strong team building abilities in a Software Product organization
Analytical skills and ability to make data-driven decisions
Ability to triage customer support requests against planned support capacity
Able to troubleshoot issues independently and drive to resolution with sense of ownership and urgency
Experience using the Atlassian suite
Excellent oral/written communication and organization skills

Junior Agile Software Project Manager:
1-3 years of relevant experience

Agile Software Project Manager:
4-7 years of relevant experience

Senior Agile Software Project Manager:
8+ years of relevant experience
