Solar Project Manager

BIOFerm™ is currently looking for a Solar Project Manager. BIOFerm™, is a Wisconsin-based renewable energy company providing turn-key installation of solar energy systems for businesses, public authorities, and other commercial entities.

The Solar Project Manager will be responsible for ownership of the complete project from development to construction of turnkey BIOFerm Solar projects throughout WI, IL and IA. The position involves some travel to sites but will be primarily office based. The ideal candidate will have ample experience with turn-key commercial solar project management for rooftop system installation and ground mount installation (tracking systems and ground mount experience considered a plus).

The Project Manager (PM) will own the responsibility of managing and executing multiple solar projects through various phases. The PM will be responsible for design, including overseeing system design process, initial site evaluation, and plan sets. The PM will be responsible for utility Interconnection including submitting applications and managing the approval process, as well as permitting, which includes zoning permits. In this role, the PM will manage the procurement process with a focus on major system components (panels, inverters, racking, switchgear), technology evaluation, bidding, vendor selection, purchase orders, and logistics.

Additionally, the PM will be responsible for subcontractors including bidding, contractor selection, contract negotiations, scheduling, and execution. The PM will oversee the timelines, including coordinating with customer, subcontractors, vendors, towns and utility, and provide ongoing operations support by prioritizing daily maintenance issues and annual inspections.

In addition, the PM needs to keep records, provide monthly budget and reports and project dashboards.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for operational level understanding of the requirement of the customer, site visits, site feasibility, and solar systems
  • Design and complete execution. Able to check site feasibility and provide the best suitable option for enhancing suitability.
  • Draw/document submission/approvals, scheduling, factory inspections, proving the guaranteed prepared a generalized check list for review of all standard.
  • End to end execution of solar projects (Rooftop & Ground Mounted) and AMC / Service Support.
  • Act as the technology line process specialist and coordinate all support needed for each assigned project
  • Prepare and assist in maintaining customer support material
  • Take the lead technical role at customer meetings for bid clarifications, technology updates, technical proposal review and general positioning of respective technologies
  • Coordinate engineering and equipment proposal support via the liaison positions
  • Provide competitive feedback from individual projects to management team

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in solar field
  • Field construction and execution experience
  • Understand the designing of arrangements of the solar panels for Rooftop & Ground Mounted & other various supported electrical equipment & selection of cables for plant including layouts & schematic diagrams and calculation of technical Sizing, BOQ/BOM.
  • Knowledge of IS & specifications needed for the designing and execution of solar projects.
  • Knowledge of PV SYST or similar software and should have good knowledge for conducting all essential tests required in entire Solar Project Execution.
  • Ability to effectively interface with global design and execution team is strongly preferred
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with external customers as well as with internal Engineering, R&D, Sales, and Technical Service groups
  • Valid US driver’s license required
  • Willingness to travel and valid US passport required
  • Ability to travel up to 50% annually to domestic and international locations
  • Must be authorized to work for any company in the United States. Must not require sponsorship, or continued sponsorship to work for any company in the United States at any time in the future.
